FAQs about hotels in Brooklyn

The Giant of New York

Immortalized in popular music, culturally diverse Brooklyn has achieved almost legendary status. On the western end of Long Island, across the East River from Manhattan, this huge NYC borough is so densely populated that if it were its own city, it would rank as the 4th largest in the US!

The borough is connected to Manhattan by 3 bridges: Williamsburg, Manhattan and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. It's also connected to Staten Island by the lengthy Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Ocean-going liners pass under here before docking at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook. To the northeast, Brooklyn Bridge Park has some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline, while southeast is the huge Prospect Park.

On one edge is Brooklyn Museum, the country’s 2nd largest art gallery, and just behind is the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens whose cherry trees bloom a vibrant pink. To the east are some hotels near JFK Airport, and there are more in neighboring Queens.

At Brooklyn’s southernmost tip, Coney Island’s historic boardwalk has appeared in several films. Renovations are underway to bring it back to its former glory, and the revamped Luna features a historic wooden roller coaster. Also historic is the northern Greenpoint district with its elegant 19th-century houses.

Cheap Brooklyn hotels are great alternatives to accommodations in Manhattan, so check Booking.com for the best deals.

Amazing view of the bridge and the Manhattan skyline,...

Amazing view of the bridge and the Manhattan skyline, especially when timing with the sunset. Plenty of places to eat. We had a 10 minute walk from our hotel in Dyker Heights to the nearest subway and there were loads of shops, eating places and cafes - including the likes of Victoria's Secrets and Saphora, so I expect the area to be growing and becoming more popular.

The deposit is not clear, and it is not mentioned on...

The deposit is not clear, and it is not mentioned on booking.com. - Staff are kind but for me one staff was racist and I was shouted at and humiliated just for asking to send an invoice. - I recommend the customer service is not that good as it destroyed the image creating a very unsafe environment for me as a customer. - The management needs more personnel for the night shift because, during my stay with the receptionist, I felt unsafe and no one else was present to reassure the staff; instead, my brother had to gently remove me and lead me to the lift. -The rooms are really small and the shower and toilets are in a very small space, for family members sharing a room is very difficult. I would only recommend it if you have a short stay there and I do not recommend it for European travellers as the deposit thing looks like a scam. The currency converter was a bit weird too. I ended up paying 100€ extra and still waiting for my deposit.

Brooklyn is a vibrant, hip, and inclusive section of NYC.

Brooklyn is a vibrant, hip, and inclusive section of NYC. Parts of it remind me of the 60-70’s culture with a lot more money and style. People are busy but enjoy city life together at night. Brooklyn has a definite cool vibe. I felt it was an intelligent community and safe.

Great place that's evolved into a diverse chill environment.

Great place that's evolved into a diverse chill environment. Sure it's still the hustle bustle of Manhattan but it's more family oriented and less precious. You don't have to leave BK to enjoy food, culture and shopping. The museums and history is right there, along with sports and activities.

    Brooklyn is actually very awesome.

Brooklyn is actually very awesome. You could totally just do Brooklyn stuff and skip all the Manhattan pretense. There is lots to do but sometimes a pain to get around on subway (can't get there from here type of thing). Brooklyn Chinatown is probably the best in the area as far as safety, cleanliness, and chill vibe.

Location to some of the best restaurants in Williamsburg, lots to look at within walking distance. Most of the staff were great such as front desk, restaurant staff and cleaning. Room is a decent size for NYC and we had a spectacular view of Manhattan. We also ate and drank a bit at the hotel restaurant and found it to be delicious. We ordered our own food and they let us eat in the nice bar area. From the 5th floor, you can’t hear the night club at the Water Tower above, thank goodness.

The concierge were wonderful. They directed us to the ferry as a mode of transportation to get to the Brooklyn Bridge. We never would have known about the ferry if they hadn't told us and we loved it! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for our purposes, and we were able to park right outside the hotel - so convenient!! I highly recommend this hotel!

If you know to expect a basic hotel with small rooms this hotel is perfect! It’s clean, the staff are very friendly and give you water or whatever you need, it’s a great location right by Bedford Ave in W’burg, and the beds, linen etc. are super comfortable. Plus it was so cheap for 3 nights. there’s also a coworking area and lots of outdoor spaces, and you’re on the doorstep of some very good restaurants and cafes.

The rooms were large enough and comfortable. The location of the hotel was convenient to many places in Brooklyn by walking. The staff was helpful and we were happy with the efforts of the bar staff to arrange a long table for a large group attending a birthday party nearby. In fact, there were many events taking place at the hotel, including weddings and another birthday party.

We were surprised how expensive New York hotels have become but we eventually found Henry Norman in Brooklyn and found it to be a real treat. The hotel offers a low cost very acceptable breakfast and although no evening restaurant, the Brooklyn area is plastered with cheap, very good takeaways which although not the Ritz were safe, fun and even quirky.
